An important part of teaching and learning is reflection. When you take the time to reflect on your learning, you can make sense of and organize your newly acquired knowledge, so that it will be relevant to your work. Therefore, as you conclude your course on Dynamics of the Family, your written assignment for this module will be to reflect on your learning.

  1. Choose at least three (3) key areas in which you believe you have grown as an early childhood educator.         that highlights the knowledge and skills or practices you have learned in this course.
  2. Include sufficient supporting details and examples of your knowledge, skills or practices for each of the key areas you chose to substantiate your key areas of learning and growth.

Some key areas to consider when writing your reflection include (but are not limited to):

  • Family centered care and education
  • Using a strength-based perspective
  • Supporting various family structures and functions
  • Supporting diversity
  • Understanding different parenting styles
  • Creating partnerships with families
  • Communicating with families
  • Engaging families in children’s learning
  • Connecting families with the community
  • Supporting families under stress
