This paper asks you to identify two countries you may be interested in writing about for your final paper. Countries you CAN study: Peru, El Salvador, Honduras, Costa Rica, Panama, Uruguay, Paraguay, Puerto Rico , Argentina, Haiti, Dominican Republic, Belize, Grenada, Montserrat, Dominica, Guyana, Suriname, French Guyana. Countries you CAN NOT study: Guatemala, Cuba, Venezuela, Chile, Nicaragua, Mexico, Colombia, Bolivia, Ecuador, Brazil Selecting which Countries to Study: You should select countries and issues which you find interesting – you may already know something about them, or not! Instructions for this Paper: In this paper, you will: ” Select a major political change to focus on for each of the two countries you may study: it can be change of regime (like the Arbenz overthrow in Guatemala); a case of US intervention; a major economic crisis. ” Develop a research question for each country: Your research question should be either: o What CAUSED this major political change? o What were the EFFECTS of this major political change?
